Follow-up on the progress of development projects in the Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate


His Excellency Dr. Said bin Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy, and His Excellency Eng. Badr bin Salim Al Ma’amari, Secretary-General of the Tender Board, conducted a field visit to Al Dakhiliyah Governorate to follow up on the progress of vital development projects in the region.


His Excellency Sheikh Hilal bin Said Al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, emphasized that the visit is part of ongoing efforts to directly monitor the implementation of development projects under the Tenth Five-Year Plan and the Governorate Development Program. He highlighted the importance of integrated efforts among all concerned entities to enhance the efficiency of project implementation and achieve the highest performance and competitiveness indicators.

His Excellency also pointed out that Al Dakhiliyah Governorate is rich in natural and cultural resources, making it a promising destination for investment. He stressed the need to leverage these resources to boost the local economy, meet citizens’ aspirations, and support local development efforts in line with national objectives, particularly in the sectors of education, health, tourism, and agriculture.

He underscored the vital role of public-private partnerships in developing sustainable projects and the governorate’s commitment to creating an attractive investment environment that fosters economic growth and job creation.

During the visit, several visual presentations were delivered. Mr. Said bin Rashid Al Qatubi, Director General of Social Sectors at the Ministry of Economy, reviewed the economic and social aspects of the governorate and highlighted key strategic projects aimed at infrastructure development and investment promotion. These included the “Green Mountain Front” project and other tourism and heritage initiatives.

Al Qatubi noted that Al Dakhiliyah is well-positioned to become a leading economic and tourism hub. He reported a 15.5% increase in visitors to heritage sites in 2023 and noted that 68 projects were implemented between 2021 and 2023 at a total cost exceeding OMR 18.68 million. Additionally, 27 new project proposals were submitted for 2024.

The General Secretariat of the Tender Board also presented a visual briefing on mechanisms for managing development projects and their associated financial programs, as well as the board’s role in enhancing local content and supporting projects across all governorates.

Al Dakhiliyah Governorate is currently witnessing the implementation of several development and investment projects, including the “Al Dakhiliyah Boulevard” project, the integrated public transport station, Nizwa Public Park, and the development of the Nizwa entrance. Other ongoing projects include developmental and tourism initiatives in the Wilayat of Jabal Akhdar.
