The National Laboratory for Local Content Inauguration Today


Today, Monday, the Secretariat General of the Tender Board inaugurates the National Laboratory for Local Content with the participation of more than 43 public and private entities. The event is held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, attended by H.E. Dr. Said bin Mohammed Al-Saqri, Minister of Economy, and H.E. Badr bin Salem Al-Maamari, Secretary-General of the Tender Board.

The National Laboratory targets several vital sectors, including energy, mining, construction, electricity, water, healthcare, and military and security sectors. It aims to promote reliance on local products, create more job opportunities, enhance the efficiency of the national workforce, develop industrial capabilities, localize industries, support innovation, transfer technology, and empower local companies to boost their competitiveness.

The launch of the National Laboratory for Local Content marks a significant step in strengthening the national strategy for the competitiveness of local products and developing skills, while exploring opportunities to expand in the local market.

The laboratory has outlined several objectives to establish a comprehensive roadmap for enhancing local content based on sectoral priorities. It aims to ensure feasibility and adaptability to changes by identifying opportunities, challenges, and solutions through studies and analyses of the current situation to explore opportunities that enhance local content in targeted sectors.

Additionally, the laboratory will empower local companies to actively participate in major projects, increasing their competitiveness and offering broader growth opportunities that contribute to their development and expansion. This will positively impact job creation for citizens while encouraging the laboratory to facilitate knowledge and technology transfer to the local market and assist in building advanced national capacities across various sectors to establish a prosperous and sustainable national economy.

The National Laboratory for Local Content serves as a cornerstone in supporting the national economy and increasing the competitiveness of local products by improving quality, fostering innovation, and driving economic sustainability. Its objectives include fostering integration among relevant sectors to ensure optimal utilization of shared resources to achieve long-term strategic goals, building effective partnerships with government entities and the private sector to enhance local content, and encouraging collaboration among academic institutions, research centers, and industrial entities to support innovation and development.
