Next Wednesday, the General Secretariat of the Tenders Board will launch the "Imkan 2" program, which contributes to the development of personnel working in government projects and contracts. This program aims to enhance the skills of a number of engineers working in this sector, improve project management efficiency, and elevate the quality of project and contract management. The launch of "Imkan 2" will involve 120 engineers representing 18 government entities, and the program will last for 6 months, including various training workshops and field visits to enhance the efficiency of government projects and contracts. The launch event for the "Imkan 2" program was held at the Grand Millennium Hotel.
The program aims to establish a highly efficient professional work system, which will reflect in adding local value to the management of government projects and contracts. It will help in setting clear criteria for evaluating technical levels within the organizational divisions of contract and project management.
Abdullah bin Saif Al-Hosni, Talent and Competency Development Advisor at the General Secretariat of the Tenders Board, stated: “The launch of 'Imkan 2' follows the success of the first program, which trained nearly 50 engineers from various government entities. This program is crucial for aligning with Oman's Vision 2040 and is consistent with the General Secretariat's strategy to improve the efficiency of workers and the management of government projects and contracts."
Al-Hosni added that the second program will attract experienced professional engineers from different government entities and will continue for 6 months. It aims to establish a database and competency matrix across all government institutions involved in projects, contracts, and tenders. The entities benefiting from the "Imkan 2" program include the Ministry of Interior, Sultan Qaboos University, Ministry of Transport and Communications, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, Ministry of Education, Muscat Municipality, Environment Authority, Al-Buraimi Municipality, and the governorate offices in Dhofar, South and North Sharqiya, Dhahirah, Al-Dakhiliyah, and South and North Batinah.
Al-Hosni further noted that “Imkan" is a promising program for the professional development of personnel working in contracts, project management, and tenders within government entities, aiming to develop specialized national competencies that are competitive both locally and internationally. The program is divided into three phases: the first phase benefited approximately 7 government entities, the second phase will benefit 18 government entities, and the final phase, which focuses on technical project management, will involve nearly 21 government entities.
