The General Secretariat of the Tender Board will celebrate today Tuesday, the graduation of the first batch from the "Imkan" program, under the patronage of His Excellency Engineer Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology. The event will be attended by His Excellency Engineer Badr bin Salem Al Mamari, the Secretary General of the Tender Board, and His Excellency Salim bin Muslim Al Busaidi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Human Resources Development.
The program targeted 50 engineers from various government entities, aiming to enhance the efficiency of employees and improve the management of government projects and contracts as part of the Tender Board's strategy. It is crucial for aligning with Oman's Vision 2040 by developing workforce capabilities in government projects and contracts, and qualifying engineers in this sector to enhance performance in project management and development. The program commenced on January 1st and lasted for 6 months.
The training program included various practical and theoretical activities, utilizing a professional integrated educational design. Engineers were able to acquire a highly efficient professional system, contributing to adding local value in managing government projects and contracts by establishing clear standards for evaluating technical levels in organizational divisions responsible for contract and project management. Over the 6-month training period, engineers encountered challenges such as project delays, setbacks, prolonged execution periods, as well as changes and increases typical in projects, leading to additional costs. The program aimed to address these challenges by offering solutions, ideas, and innovations that mitigate difficulties faced by future government contracts and projects.
The "Imkan Al Awal" program represents a promising initiative in exemplary professional development for personnel in contracts, project management, and tenders within government entities. Its primary goal is to cultivate national competencies that can compete locally and internationally. In its initial phase, the General Secretariat of the Tender Board targeted several government entities involved in larger and higher-quality projects, including the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth, and Water Resources, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, Muscat Municipality, and Dhofar Municipality.
