The General Secretariat of the Tender Board participates in the Oman Real Estate Conference to introduce local content policies

The General Secretariat of the Tender Board, represented by the National Office for Local Content, is participating in the 20th edition of the Oman Real Estate Conference and Exhibition, which is considered the largest specialized event in the real estate sector in the Sultanate of Oman. The event is being held from May 19 to 21 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, coinciding with the Design and Build Week.

Through this participation, the General Secretariat focuses on highlighting the role of local content in the real estate sector by enabling national products and services to enter the supply chains of real estate projects and enhancing the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises. This contributes to supporting economic growth and increasing the contribution of this vital sector to the GDP.

Engineer Ghaleb bin Amer Al-Hinai, Head of the National Office for Local Content, confirmed that this participation reflects the government’s direction towards enhancing integration among the concerned entities and implementing effective policies that support the utilization of national capabilities in executing real estate projects. This aligns with the aspirations of Oman Vision 2040, which aims for a diversified and sustainable economy and integrated urban communities.

The General Secretariat's pavilion showcased several initiatives that contribute to maximizing local content in the real estate sector, foremost among them the adoption of the general framework for the National Local Content Strategy as a comprehensive reference for localizing industries and services. It also introduced the first phase of implementing the Local Content Certification, which serves as a practical tool to measure companies' commitment to enhancing local value within their projects.

Other initiatives included unifying methodologies and standards for applying local content in tender contracts across various sectors, ensuring the clarity of technical and financial criteria, as well as standardizing the list of mandatory goods, services, and functions to guide government spending towards the local market systematically.

The office also focused on presenting efforts to enhance governance and transparency in the execution of real estate projects by developing digital systems and data integration. This allows for tracking compliance with local content and ensuring clear measurement indicators that contribute to improving the efficiency of project implementation and increasing their national economic return.

These efforts align with the main themes of the Oman Real Estate Conference, including updating real estate legislation, enhancing digital transformation, expanding financing tools, and adopting smart city models, which prepare the real estate sector to become an attractive environment for both local and international investment and a driving force for sustainable development.

Through this participation, the General Secretariat reaffirms its strong commitment to enhancing economic competitiveness through effective local content policies, enabling projects to rely on national expertise and local products, and building an integrated urban system that supports the stability and growth of the national economy.
